The Position

We seek a full-time designer with 2 to 5 years of demonstrated design experience. The Experience Designer I will work with and learn from our designers, developers, and producers as we work on the next generation of interactive exhibits and installations for world-renowned museums, zoos, aquariums, and Fortune 500 companies. The Experience Designer I will have demonstrated graphic design skills and can help develop interactive exhibits, educational games, and other applications using a variety of large-scale hardware, including large displays, projection & projection mapping, and video/LED walls. In addition, Ideum develops whole exhibitions, so a background in print and/or environmental graphics is a strong plus.

The ideal candidate has a design background, is collaborative, and learns new techniques and technologies quickly. We are looking for a designer interested in working with us from concept through final design for a variety of interactive exhibits and exhibition spaces.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Corrales, New Mexico. This job is an on-site position (it is to design in-person experiences after all). We are a fast-paced company with high expectations; we seek someone as passionate about the work as we are. Our developers collaborate with the rest of the Creative Services team and our hardware and fabrication groups, so strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. As a relatively small company (around 40 people) that is fast growing and has a diverse set of projects (and unique products), we seek individuals who are flexible and have a diverse skill set.  

The Experience Designer must be team-oriented, consistently creating compelling designs, and enthusiastic about upholding Ideum’s standards through quality assurance of all creative deliverables. They will work with project teams to assist with the conception, design, and presentation of digital experiences that engage visitors.  The ideal candidate is well-versed in layout, composition, and typography, and is extremely self-motivated and dependable under tight deadlines. We can provide training to learn more about designing interactive digital and, in some cases, physical exhibits and installations.

The Position

We seek an Exhibit Technician to work in our hardware workshop, which assembles and supports multitouch tables, kiosks, touch displays, and custom exhibit installations. We are looking for a detail-oriented, quality-focused candidate to help us build the most reliable integrated systems. Ideum sells its interactive hardware worldwide, and we've now shipped our products to 60 countries. 

Candidates must have experience with PC systems, experience using basic tools, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. We will help the right person not only assemble our touch tables but also learn the basics of technical documentation and product support. Strong writing and communication skills are required. Experience with electronics, electrical systems, 3D printing, and/or shop tools, including CNC, plasma cutter, mill, and woodworking tools, is a plus. As a relatively small company (around 45 people) with a broad range of products and projects, we need someone who is flexible and has a broad skill set. This is an in-person position.

The Position
The Producer oversees interactive media projects and is involved in large exhibition projects, working with clients and Ideum’s creative staff. We produce projects for museums, zoos & aquariums, visitor centers, and tradeshows. A Producer will have proven to be both a highly skilled project manager and an excellent manager of employees and occasionally contractors.

The Producer is expected to have a broad and deep understanding of trends and new developments in our industry, including the range of experience design and exhibit development approaches for different types of clients, design and production processes and tools, and critical hardware and software products and processes. 

All Producers at Ideum manage projects and help staff develop their skills. The Producer must demonstrate high emotional intelligence, superior listening skills, and creative problem-solving abilities, and be interested in assisting the Creative Services teams in reaching their highest potential. 

Core Requirements and Duties:

• Effectively manage media and experience design projects with internal teams consisting of designers, developers, and creative directors.
• Manage interactive media projects effectively with museum and Fortune 500 clients, partners, and collaborators.
• Participate in Ideum’s business development process of writing proposals and obtaining and delivering quotes with other key departments, including Sales, Media Systems, Design, Software, Workshop, and the Fabrication Studio.
• Assist other Producers in developing large exhibition design projects.
• Anticipate, alert Leadership, and respond to staff needs, bottlenecks, and deadline-threatening events across CS and Ideum.
• Steadiness and dependability are required when complex projects with many stakeholders are facing challenges.
• Participate in staff reviews and recommend promotions, raises, and disciplinary action.

Creative Technologist

The Creative Technologist assists the Creative Services team at Ideum in designing and developing cutting-edge museum exhibits. The Media Systems department produces unique, custom-designed AV exhibit installations for our customers and provides support to our internal teams. They are a detail-oriented, highly motivated individual who can assist with the creation of our video wall, projection-based installations, and other AV-related installations. This is an on-site position.

Creative Technologist candidates have experience in audio-visual system production, PC assembly, maintenance, and administration, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience with audio mixing and design, video production, projection mapping, and related skills is important. Projects may include designing systems based on microcomputers/controllers and computer networking.

Additional responsibilities include producing quotes, collaborating with producers and project coordinators to create proposals, and regularly communicating with our vendors and clients.

Core Requirements and Duties:

• Experience designing interactive, AV, and computer-related installations.
• Have fundamental computer networking and security skills as they relate to A/V hardware
• Produce project documentation and technical diagrams as needed
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
