Developer I

A Developer 1 works with other developers, designers, and producers to translate project requirements into technical tasks and author functional code to complete the project. Additionally, they are expected to take initiative in testing the applications they author, identifying bugs, and deploy fixes. It is expected that a Developer 1’s code would be reviewed by more senior developers for testing and evaluation. These requirements mean that a Developer 1 must have a team-oriented attitude. A successful Developer 1 will be enthusiastic about exploring and learning new technologies and will be capable of learning the existing preferences of Ideum (e.g., Unity) as well as extending their knowledge into new frameworks, libraries, and hardware stacks.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with producer and designer teams to build code in Unity, and other tech stacks as needed, to create custom software experiences for museums and corporate client
  • Test code on target hardware or equivalent
  • Participate in internal and client facing meetings
  • Keep lines of communication open and actively participate in project updates
  • Manage time to execute work on schedule while also keeping team up to date with any issues that arise that could impact the timely delivery or quality of software products
  • Iterate work to reach the quality senior developers direct as appropriate for Alpha and Beta client reviews
  • Seek out feedback on work products 
  • After first year of employment, develop skills to Developer II level competencies

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated coding skills (proficiency in Unity and/or C#/.net is a plus) 
  • Ability to translate project requirements into technical tasks with guidance from other developers
  • Authors functional code 
  • Accepts and implements reviews and suggestions
  • Enthusiastic about working in an in-person, team environment
  • Recognizes and works to fix technical issues
  • Able to test applications and provide steps to reproduce issues
  • Learns new skills as needed
  • Demonstrates competence in, or the ability to learn, relevant domains. Examples include (but are not limited to): UI/UX development, object oriented programming, hardware Integration, graphics programming, linear algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Job Details and Benefits

The position pays $50,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.

This job is onsite at our offices in Corrales, NM. All of our employees are 100% vaccinated (you will need to be too).

After 90 days of employment, this position includes paid time off, health, dental, and vision insurance, critical illness and accident insurance, life insurance, and short-term/long-term disability. Employees are eligible after one year of employment for our 401K Safe Harbor Profit Sharing Plan.
